Alternative to Billion Dollar Health Care Bailout

Our current health care system is a carefully contrived collection of systems designed to harvest money from US consumers and eliminate almost ALL competition.

The AMA and its doctors are forced to subscribe to a concept called "ACCEPTED STANDARD OF CARE". It serves to limit your options if you come down with an illness, and protects the doctors from lawsuits. And example - Chelation Therapy has helped thousands of patients avoid heart bypass surgery, improve circulation, and keep some diabetics from having to have limbs amputated - but you will have a hard time finding a "regular" doctor advocating that course of treatment EVER.

The FDA limits what you can get to treat your illness. There are many pharmaceuticals and ALTERNATIVE treatments out there (the best are in foreign countries). The FDA is really disfunctional - and has as its focus the approval of drugs that will make money, not necessarily what common sense might dictate!

Lastly, Big Pharma, despite their nice commercials, is really only focused on money-making, PATENTABLE drugs. If they accidentaly discover something good in a plant, herb or the like, they need to change it chemically or alter it in such a way that they can then get a patent.

We really need the ability as citizens to CHOOSE what form of medical intervention we would like. All of the current plans today, and the ones propsed for the future, seem to take for granted that the current system is great.

It isn't much different than stating that only a select few have the right to offer a solution, and then let them choose for us. (Imagine a city where only one company had a license to do plumbing! Do you think they would charge fair rates? Do the work as efficiently as possible with as little interference with your home?)
