The Love Child of Harry Reid and Lady Gaga
The Unholy Union of Politics and Entertainment
The unholy union of politics and entertainment is nothing new. Politicians have been using entertainers to add a little luster to their own stars for nearly as long as politics and entertainment have existed. But, over the last few decades, and especially the last ten years, there has been a change in the relationship between those two seemingly disparate worlds. Certainly, the attitude of the entertainers has evolved. Rather than being supportive of the nation and mirroring its people and their values, the tinsel town of recent decades is nothing less than a virus, a reoccurring herpes blister on the face of the body politic.

The Hollywood that once sent its best off to fight for the United States (Clark Gable, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Alan Ladd, Robert Taylor, John Ford, Frank Capra, William Wyler, George Stevens, and John Huston) has now mated with leftist ideology to spawn the likes of Michael Moore.
The Andrews Sisters, dubbed the “Sweethearts of Armed Forces Radio”, dedicated much of the 1940’s to supporting the troops and inspiring the folks back home to buy war bonds. Today we have Lady Gaga and her personal crusade to make the US military more gay friendly.
Sure, Conservatives do have something of a toehold in the entertainment world but nothing to match the bulkhead that has been built up by the Left. Why is that? Granted, the arts crowd does swing to the left but there is something about liberal politicians that lead them to glom onto celebrities like a teenager trying to get an autograph on a napkin or, even worse, a groupie trying to get backstage. read more »
Hurray for Hollywood?
The Left Coast's Contempt for American Values and Those Who Defend Us
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us. - Henry V, St. Crispins Day Speech
In the last twenty years, ten Americans have been awarded the Medal of Honor for acts of bravery in places like Mogadishu, Kunar Province, Ramadi, and Baghdad. This award is given to members of the United States armed forces who distinguish themselves "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.” Out those ten, nine paid the ultimate price as a result of their selfless acts of bravery. Yet, how many of us know the names of these heroes? How many of us recognize the names of Gary Gordon, Randy Shughart, Salvatore Giunta, Robert James Miller, Jared C. Monte, Michael P. Murphy, Jason Dunham, Ross A. McGinnis, Michael A. Monsoor, or Paul R. Smith? These are men who put country and comrades ahead of themselves and yet, are unknown to the overwhelming majority of their fellow Americans.
Same-Sex Marriage and the Gay Agenda
Marriage is Just the First Step in a Broader Campaign to Remake Society
Many in the homosexual community sneer when anyone mentions a "gay agenda". They claim that there is no such thing. There clearly is a gay agenda, even if its not easily discernable or even concisely articulated.. We see proponents of the lifestyle calling for things like equal rights (who can argue against that) and even marriage and adoption for gay couples. But a little digging into the gay rights movement will give you the bigger picture of what same sex marriage advocates are ultimately hoping to achieve. This is a movement that only begins with equal employment opportunities and protections but ultimately wants to reshape our institutions and our very society.
In 1972, the National Coalition of Gay Organizations drew up a “Gay Rights Platform” in Chicago. Among the notable goals of the platform was to seek to “repeal all legislative provisions that restrict the sex or number of persons entering into a marriage unit; and the extension of legal benefits to all persons who cohabit regardless of sex or numbers”. In other words, the right for homosexuals to marry is simply the first step in the eventual destruction of the institution of marriage. And this is not a position that has been dropped over the last three decades. The notion of opening up marriage to any number of people is still pointed to time and time again by gay rights advocates. If the gay movement gets their way anyone can marry any number of other people, regardless of gender and (we will soon see) of age and the taxpayers will be left to cover the cost to society of these unstable and harmful unions. Imagine, a “marriage” of 4,5,6 men and women, all suing one another for alimony, child custody and support, and everything else that can come from a nasty divorce. Now imagine that extrapolated across the country and throughout the court system. read more »
The New Immigrant and the Death of the Melting Pot
Multiculturalism vs E Pluribus Unum
At one time in our nation’s history, when people cared about symbols and archetypes, there existed a particularly popular symbol of a woman named Columbia. She was the female personification of the United States, much as Uncle Sam was to be the male face of the nation. She was the warrior-goddess, the seeker of truth, defender of virtues, and exemplar of all that was noble. It was she that the space shuttle Columbia was named after, the ill-fated ship that broke apart as it came back to earth a few years ago. In his eulogy of those who died on that day, President Bush said, “Columbia is lost; there are no survivors”. Sadly, today that same thing may be said about the United States, our Columbia.
American Hubris?
Restoring our National Self-Confidence
The “ugly American” has been a part of the international lexicon for nearly as long as the United States has been a global power. Post-World War 2, Americans, dominate and relatively wealthy, began vacationing abroad en masse for the first time, particularly in Europe, and our sophisticated and effete friends across the pond just didn’t know what to do with the young, brash vacationers who were now overrunning their cafes and beaches like some consumer-minded blitzkrieg. Sure, we had come to their aid just ten years earlier and then rebuilt their nations, but why were we still there? And what’s with the attitude? We seemed almost….happy. Protected from the war by two oceans and not falling prey to the pre-war downers of people like Jean-Paul Sartre, we stepped off the boats looking for a good time and if the Europeans weren’t willing to go along for the ride, we made our own parties. It was like the frat house threw a kegger at the Chess Club meeting and the geeks have held a grudge ever since.
So, are we Americans, as the rest of the world seems to believe, an egotistical bunch? This has been said about us for decades, but the idea that we are too proud for our (and the world’s) good has really taken hold since the end of the Cold War, after the fall of the Soviet Union took the world from a bi-polar power structure to a uni-polar one, and the United States was left alone atop the heap as the last remaining superpower. When the USSR dissolved nations, even some of our allies, began too worry that we would become too influential, that we would be able to force our will on others, with no nation strong enough to check our power. It was then that the campaign to bring us down to size began in earnest. Interestingly, the campaign has been more effective at home than it has been abroad.
The Playboy of the Western World
The Moral Bankruptcy of the Sexual Revolution
Few items are as ubiquitous to the American male experience as Playboy magazine. Whether it is stacked in closets, tucked in between mattresses, or casually thrown around the frat house, Hugh Hefner’s contribution to American letters has left an indelible mark at the forefront of the sexual revolution since the first issue hit the stands in 1953. Indeed, the Playboy Empire has encircled the globe and expanded from print and night clubs to video releases, a cable television channel and even playmate dolls. The Playboy bunny logo is one of the most recognized corporate logos in the world. But, recent revelations by one of Mr. Hefner’s former “girlfriends” has shone a light on seediness of the empire and metaphorically swung open the doors to the Playboy Mansion to expose a lifestyle that is as hollow and as bankrupt as the sexual revolution itself.
Captain Hollywood!
The Destoyer of all that's Good and Pure
I’m a conservative and a Christian, so I have been genetically engineered to hate Hollywood. And that’s okay, because they have never failed to let me down by always letting me down. It is a town and an industry that revels in the banal and elevates the gutter. So, on the rare occasion that I hear that there is a movie in the works about a person or a subject that I actually care about, I know better than to get my hopes up because, as a conservative and a Christian, I now that the subject or the person that I care about will be, at best rewritten to fit Hollywood’s versions of morality or, more likely, simply held up for derision. That is why I am biting my tongue and keeping my excitement at bay over the upcoming Captain America flick, The First Avenger. Because, I’ve seen what Hollywood can do to my boyhood heroes.
It’s no surprise to anyone that, along with academia, Hollywood is pretty much the fountainhead of homegrown anti-Americanism. This has been particularly true over the last decade as the Left Coast has produced movie after movie lambasting everything from George W. Bush, to the War on Terror, and virtually anything remotely related to Conservative values. And, sadly, the recent crop of comic book hero flicks has not been exempted from this combative attitude.
Lady Gaga's Original Sin
The Left's Moral Relativism? They Were Born That Way!
Listening to the youth, and a fair amount of us older folks, as well, one begins to see a common thread of thinking as it relates to a) original sin, if they are Christians, or b) human nature, if they are of a more secular stripe. This popular school of thought is simply this: you are the way you are because that is the way God/Nature intended and that makes who or what you are good. And, to deny what you are is bad. In other words, you exit the womb, a fully realized human being and any deviation from that or criticism of whom or what you are, contradicts your innate perfection. Ultimately, what this does is to negate any responsibility for who you are or what you do and, even more devastating to society, to remove any claims of moral authority.
The Greatest Con Job Ever!
How the American People are Being Duped By the Media and the Gay Lobby
If the recent Gallup poll is to be believed, that the majority of Americans now support the right of same-sex couples to marry, one has to wonder why the change in public opinion. Another recent Gallup poll might shed some light on why the public might be more open to same-sex unions and why they are being misled. According to Gallup, Americans now believe that 25% of the population is gay or lesbian. This number is incredibly inflated!
The classic study on the subject was done by Alfred Kinsey in the 1960's. Kinsey proposed that 10% of men between the ages of 16 and 55 had been "more or less excusively homosexual" for at least three years. Gay activists jumped on this study to show, in their minds anyway, the existence of a sizeable gay community. But, Kinsey's study was never meant to count the number of homosexuals but to simply illustrate human sexual activity. But, the activists saw this as a great tool and the 10% figure stuck for decades.
But, even that percentage is now thought to be inflated. According to demographer Gary Gates, based on an extensive review of population based surveys, the number of self-identifying gays and lesbians is about 9 million people, or 3.8% of the population.
Why this disconnect between reality and perception? Its the result of a massive propaganda campaign directed at the American public on two fronts: the media and the public school system.
The media has been attempting to normalize the gay lifestyle for decades. I can remember, as a very young child, an episode of Phil Donohue where his guests were two very normal looking gay men. They could have been pulled from General Casting by requesting "two all-American jock-types". They were there to dispel all the "lies" about gays. They are just like us, except in the bedroom! Also, the audience was comprised entirely of young children: teens, tweens and other impressionable sub-groups. That was nearly 30 years ago. In the meantime, we've had Will and Grace, Ellen, Glee, programs on MTV and VH1 dedicated to advancing the normalization of homosexuality and all aimed at the young. Sure, you're going to think that the world is gay if that is all you ever see when you turn on the television!
When the kids aren't sitting in front of the tv, they are being indoctrinated at school. Let's start at the top with President Obama's pick as the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, Kevin Jennings. Mr Jennings, who founded the Gay and Lesbian Independent School Teachers Education Network, wrote the forwad to a book entitled “Queering Elementary Education.” This book is a collection of essays by different authors who supported teaching young children about homosexuality. Mr. Jennings’ foreword explains why he thinks it is important to start educating children about homosexuality as early as activist-educators can get away with doing so.
You can go here to see many examples of the prevalence of the homosexual propganda being foisted on our children every day at school.
The bottom line here is that we are seeing our society reshaped, degraded, by 3.8% of the population and their supporters. They are waging a war against over 90% of the public and they are winning by propaganda and misinformation.
