I’m not a sportswriter… and it’s a far cry from politics to the gridiron… but yesterday witnessed the re-emergence of one of the truly preeminent football franchises in the history of the sport.
The San Francisco 49ers, Alex Smith and their no-nonsense head coach Jim Harbaugh, pulled off what may be the most remarkable finish to win a division playoff game in recent memory… possibly since 1981. Then, it was Joe Montana to Dwight Clark in what came to be known as ‘The Catch’.
This football franchise has seen its share of remarkable moments. The image of Terrell Owens at the goal line, snagging a last minute pass from Steve Young in the last three seconds of the 1999 NFC wild-card playoff game against the Packers at ‘The Stick’, is still fresh in the 49er faithfuls’ minds as the ‘The Catch 2?.
There can be no greater indication of the ‘new’ 49ers resurgence than the fans in Candlestick Park. The old place really rocked… you could hear the roar from miles away on the wind. The 49ers are back… and that ‘old’ stadium which has seen so many great 49ers teams over the years has, at least temporarily, a new lease on life. read more »
If I was a total stranger who had never seen or heard of Barack Hussein Obama, I would say he was stoned when that picture was taken. As far as I’m concerned, the picture speaks for itself. It is the face of self-indulgence. It is the face of dissipation. Soon to become the face of desperation.
In medieval times, he would have been given a name such as ‘Obama the Usurper’, or ‘Obama the Destroyer’. Most likely though, the appellation that would stick would have been given to him not by his cronies but by ‘the little people’. And that nomenclature would be ‘Obama the Weak’.
Judged objectively, the last three years under Barack Hussein Obama will go down in history as three of the worst years in our history. We’ve been suffering under the depredations of the Obama crowd long enough. It’s time to take the fight against the enemies of freedom to the next level. read more »
It’s the year most of the country has been waiting for. Ever since it realized it had elected a monster president and a ravenous horde of Marxists intent on institutionalizing European style (or worse) socialism in this country. It’s highly probable that 2012 will be one of those ‘pivotal’ years that historians glory over… after the fact. Problem with that is that we are the facts. And 2012 is a slate yet to be written on.
The world is an increasingly dangerous place and, under President Barack Hussein Obama, even more so for America. This is a man who identifies more with the stated enemies of this Republic than with American citizens.
Those who read my columns will remember that in my business one can put in an outrageous number of hours, which can result in precluding my writing. No, it’s not because I can’t write when I’m dog tired. It’s more because I don’t have time to do the requisite research.
Dee, the very efficient editor of this little shooting match, can’t do it for me. She is just about maxed out too… which would explain why we haven’t seen an article from her in a while. She’s a pretty good writer in her own right.
Regular readers will remember my (former) IDF buddy, Jackie. He just returned from a couple of weeks in Israel. We both work for the same company and I was talking to him out of earshot of any staff. We were talking about Israel. So, you say, what’s the big deal? You’ve talked to him before. Prying information out of Jackie is like trying to open a giant clam with a pair of chopsticks. We’ve both watched the Iran/Middle East crisis develop with not a little trepidation. He, because Israel is his home of origin (he has family there). Me, because I’ve been fascinated by history and the events that shaped history. A life-long avocation that has taught me that history, in many ways, does repeat itself. read more »
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances”.
Words. Simple and direct. No society on Earth had ever heard their like before… they were truly as revolutionary as the revolution that spawned them. It was the beginning of the evolution of the freest, most open and dynamic nation/state in history. Cobbled together from a handful of often cantankerous and contrarily independent colonies. How, then, were these wildly disparate groups of peoples forged into the instrument for truth and freedom that is the United States of America?
We know that we stand on the shoulders of giants. Even a cursory glance through our founding documents reveals them to be the inspired works of thoughtful, highly educated (most of them were reading Homer in the original Greek by the time they were 12 or 13 and doing trigonometry and calculus as well) men who risked everything to birth this nation of free men, against odds that reason said were impossible.
Information was passed from person to person. The papers of the period were mostly one page ‘broadsheets’ which could often be found plastered to the wall of the local tavern. Political views and opinions were often printed in pamphlets which were circulated through the towns and villages. There were no ‘professional’ journalists… only individual Americans speaking their minds and hearts. read more »
I really hesitated to write this article now, because the field for the Republican nomination remains fluid. As a matter of record, I will support whoever we eventually bring forth to do battle with MaoBama.
I think that as things stand right now, any Republican candidate can defeat Barack Hussein Obama, except Ron Paul. Ron Paul, though he has a small organization of dedicated fanatics, is a total crackpot on anything to do with foreign policy, defense or the military. He cannot win and will not advance beyond Ohio.
It’s never easy to take out an incumbent president and this one is no exception. But, if the election were held today in several swing states, Obama would lose to either Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney.
The really scary part of the tale for the ‘Beloved Leader’ is that his DeMarxist Party has been shedding real registered Democrats like water from a duck’s back. According to the National Journal, some 825,000 registered Democrats have exited the party since 2008. Many of these expatriated Democrats are from key battleground states.
So while Obama continues to genuflect to the loony left and cater to the lowest common denominator of his leftist coalition, Democrats who have experienced Obama’s Amerika are fleeing the party in their thousands. The Lame Stream Press, that odiferous symbiont of leftist dogma, has done all it can to destroy each of the Republican presidential candidates in turn. Starting with Sarah Palin, though she was never an announced candidate, then going on to savage every Conservative possible presidential aspirant just as quickly as they emerged to threaten the MaoBama regime. They haven’t seen the end of Sarah either, but that’s a tale for another day. read more »
What is it that the Washington Republican establishment and the DeMarxists of Barack Hussein Obama’s regime have in common with one another? Status quo. The Marxi-Socialists attempting to enslave this free country of free people strongly wish to maintain the status quo of their Marxist Chief, Barack Obama. The Beltway-Georgetown ‘insider’ Republicrats, on the other hand, have an agenda altogether different.
The tenacity with which the Washington Republican establishment has sought to control and direct the Republican primary process has not gone unnoticed by Americans, and it appears to be backfiring. Not that you’d know it by the mindless bleatings of the Lame Stream Press. There’s an awful lot of noise out there regarding Mitt Romney (the GOP establishment presumed candidate), the man the LSM and the Obama camp would like to run against.
Almost every average polling result shows President Obama beating Romney. Okay, that explains why the lefties are enamored of the too smooth and somewhat oily Mr. Romney. On the other hand, there’s good reason Mitt can’t get out of the twenties.
Conservatives don’t trust Romney. We see him for what he is. An opportunistic politician who, at one or more points in his career, has flipped on every major issue in the Conservative playbook. He started his career as a pro-choice liberal. Recent forays into what he calls Conservatism lack conviction. read more »
And I’m not alone. No, not by several long-shots. I’m tired of watching good people be chewed up by the unholy alliance between the left and its symbiont, the Lame Stream Press. What bothers me even further is that ‘Republicans’ seldom, if ever, rally around one of our own. The RINO Republican establishment types quake in their boots every time an attack is launched against one of our people.
Such timidity may make the establishment types feel ‘secure’ and smug in their arrogance, but as we have seen with the establishment’s track record for picking winners… abysmal might fit the description.
I made no bones about my support for Herman Cain, though it fell short of an actual endorsement. Now, Herman Cain has officially withdrawn his candidacy. The perfect storm of bimbo eruptions bursting around him would have disrupted any campaign. It’s pretty obvious to me that this entire satire has been engineered by, and for, the Obama White House with the help of a few ‘friends’ like David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel.
The final straw for Herman was the last bimbette trotted out by the left, Ginger White, who, in a fit of timing just all too cozy for belief, claimed to have had a thirteen year cross country affair with Cain which he unequivocally denies. Now, just like all the other claimants, she can’t or won’t specify one single specific date, time or location. She, just like all the others, seems to be a financial basket case. The only thing missing from this charade is the vulture-like Gloria Allred. I guess she lost interest when nothing came of her previous forays. read more »
Bill Looman is not someone’s political hack. He’s far from being the left’s favorite guy right now, also. Bill is a ten year Marine veteran, who would like nothing more than to grow his company. Pretty obviously, when he started placing signs in the windows of his company vehicles and a large billboard in front of his offices, he had no idea that he, his company, and his signs, would go viral.
Through my own professional acquaintances, and being in a business that quite frequently brings me into contact with business owners, particularly here on the left coast, I can see that overbearing taxation and regulation by an all but totalitarian state government, completely and totally unresponsive to the people they are supposed to serve, have cost Californians millions of jobs and billions of dollars.
Extreme leftist governance has placed this once most prosperous region in the world into a depression economy with 44 or 45 billion dollars worth of unfunded liability, It’s no wonder that businesses will not commit to hiring new personnel, and only grudgingly replace losses due to attrition.
Bill Looman’s company, US Cranes LLC, manufactures and services overhead cranes and monorail lift systems. Well, guess what? Gee whiz, and all that stuff… Overhead cranes are for the most part utilized by companies that manufacture things… or have a need of a heavy lifting capability. Not accidentally, manufacturing on all levels has been the special targets of Obama’s agents of destruction, as has the energy sector. read more »
It appears as though our ‘Republican’ candidates have once again forgotten how to spell the word illegal. Notice the use of the term ‘Republicans’ as opposed to ‘Conservative’ candidates.
Our assumed first-tier candidates have been pussy-footing around illegal immigration like social workers daintily stepping around piles of poo at ‘Occupy Oakland’, or one of the other super-fund cleanup sites engendered by the useless, wasted piles of human garbage that inhabit these places. Oh, and did I mention that they are the DeMarxists’ political action committee as well?
They make at least as much sense as the Democrats themselves… which is to say, not much. It is, however, one of the cornerstones to which the Marxists have affixed their fading brand.
The illegal alien issue is going to be huge with the American people. We’re sick to death of hearing about how “we”, the American people, have to be ‘caring’ and ‘compassionate’ towards those who have breached the the sovereignty of our borders, breaking the most basic law of the land.
The overwhelming majority of these people are not simple farmers looking for work. What they want, friends, is that which you have in your pockets… if you have anything left at all after three consecutive years of uber-liberal Marxist governance under wannabe Caliph Barack Hussein Obama, that is. read more »
We’ve all had that semi-otherworldly sense, ‘that I’ve been here before’. I’ve had it strongly enough on a couple of occasions where it literally raised the hair at the back of my head. One such occurrence was when I saw a series of reports about China’s belligerence towards Japan and, most recently, the Philippines. Those of you who still remember history as it used to be taught… actual, factual, times, places and events, are beginning to stand out as China continues its headlong rush to confrontation with the west.
The Japanese, prior to WW2, were flushed from two victories over the Russians and the Chinese. Japanese militarists were flexing their muscles through officially banned, but nonetheless politically influential, Samurai ‘Secret Societies’. His Imperial Majesty the Japanese Emperor, Hirohito, had plenty of extra-territorial aims of his own. The Japanese saw westerners as hairy, uncultured and smelly barbarians, who just happened to be in possession of some remarkable technology which had given the west a decided (although temporary as far as the Japanese were concerned) lead over the unbelievably courageous, but hopelessly medieval, Japanese military. read more »
