Liberal TX Rag Houston Chron - Lays Full Blame on "Angry Conservatives" for Census Lag Using Half-Baked Research
More attempts to mischaracterize conservatives. This time, by widely-quoted major newssource, the Houston Chronicle.

Over the past week, I have been honored to lead the fight in South Carolina against the big government and unconstitutional health care bill dubbed “ObamaCare.”
Months ago, I was the first candidate running for any office in South Carolina to sign the “Repeal It” pledge, vowing to fight to repeal the health care bill if it managed to become law.
In preparation for that fight, I filed legislation in December to amend the South Carolina Constitution to clarify the federal government does not have the authority to mandate that South Carolinians purchase health insurance. If my legislation becomes law in South Carolina, it could deliver a major blow to Nancy Pelosi’s and President Obama’s plan for the government take over of health care.
Late last week, my bill received its first committee hearing and I asked for your support. I am proud to report that a merged bill, known as the “Duncan-Scott Amendment” passed out of subcommittee and will have a hearing before the full judiciary committee in two weeks.
If the Duncan-Scott Amendment passes this year, South Carolinians will have an opportunity to vote on this amendment in November, and send a loud and clear message to Washington: “stop trampling over the Constitution, and start listening to the citizens of this nation!” read more »
It's All About Control, Baby
Y'know, there's a little mantra that exists about relationships, whispered between friends when they discuss their loves, their interests, their sex, whatever:
They're trying to control you.
You need out, man. You can't let her boss you around like that. You need to do what you want, when you want. You're in control of yo-sef.
Girl, he's mistreatin' you again? And you're still with him? Don't you see he's got some kind of mind-control on you? The sex can't be that hot. He's tryin' to control you!
What "choice" have we predominately heard about when it comes to healthcare? Doctor choice? Clinic choice? Shot choice? No, pro-choice abortion. Ok? Your choice of deciding whether to have someone stick a probe up your uterus, suck your baby into a sink, or maybe syringe some saline solution to burn the baby out. If you're a guy, then it would apply to your choice of having your progeny decimated, it's brains squished and bloody body mangled enough to be poured into the same test tube you might use for donating your semen. Yeah, it's bad. Fight to keep your child alive.. or keep your boys safe to begin with.
But, "choice." Because that "control" -- mind-control, sex control, intimidation control, whatever -- didn't allow you to choose to keep your legs shut or your penis in your pants in the first place. Because you didn't have a choice before conception, only after.
Now it's come to light that someone actually admits that Obama's healthcare legislation is what conservatives knew all along: Control. Control over your medical choices. Control over your medical decisions, what proponents of pro-choice have argued against for decades: control over your body. read more »
If it walks like a duck and looks like a duck, if it has webbed feet like a duck… chances are it’s not a lobster. At Barack’s friendly fish market, things aren’t very fresh, especially downwind from his magnanimous, friendly, energy offshore drilling pronouncement.
If it looks like week old fish, if it smells like week old fish… Has anyone stopped to wonder why Barack (I intend to destroy the coal industry) Obama would ’suddenly’ have an epiphany about offshore drilling, or any drilling for that matter? Interior Department head Ken Salazar had frozen all oil and natural gas exploration permits for the entire continental United States and Alaska at the express instructions of his boss.
The amount of area that Obama is talking about opening for drilling is infinitesimally small in relationship to the known and suspected reserves that are awaiting, not only offshore but here in the continental United States itself as well as Alaska. Petroleum geologists believe that there is enough oil and gas to last this country for the next 100 years, plenty of time to experiment and develop the next generations of energy technology, and no, I’m not referring to solar or wind power. They are simply another green phantom being thrown out there by the left and will never be a significant source of energy. read more »
“I want to thank you all for coming to this special Overseer’s Coven. I have some very special news,” the speaker smiled at the announcement.
“What is it, Cecelia?” one of the overseers gathered asked.
“Director Joshua informs me that the Primate will be coming here to Schauungtown as part of his annual pilgrimage this year.
The overseers in the circle all smiled.
“That is good news, Sibling Cecelia."
“Yes, Schauungtown is being honored for its efforts in implementing the Covenant of Universal Community. As part of the celebration, the Primate will be coming before our branch of the Toleration Fellowship.”
“Will Director Joshua be accompanying the Primate?”
“Probably not.” However, Sibling Cecelia assured her fellow Overseers, “Having the Primate visit our branch of the Toleration Fellowship will be quite an occasion to remember and no doubt be an herstoric day for our Community.”
The other Overseers gathered in the coven had to agree. Though they would have been more thrilled to be paid a visit by Director Joshua, each of them was aware of what an honor it would be for the Primate to visit their Residential Association. For as the holder of the holder of the highest office in the Toleration Fellowship, apart from Director Joshua, the Primate was seen as the foremost embodiment of the principles expressed in the Covenant of Universal Community.
Though the Primate symbolized everything the Toleration Fellowship stood for, he was somewhat idiosyncratic and only left his sanctum several times a year to grace with his presence a number of select Residential Associations. The Overseers wanted everything to meet the regulations promulgated for the visit of a dignitary of the Primate’s status. read more »
The other night, my family joined millions of Americans in watching the health care debate unfold on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. I hoped and prayed that Congress would listen to the will of the American people and start over with a new health care bill.
As I watched the health care debate, it was my hope that Congress would have considered legislation that would lower costs and improve access by offering free market solutions. I hoped Congress would have remembered the Constitution of the United States and realized they were leading our nation away from our founding principles
Instead, we witnessed a 2,700 page bill rammed through Congress by using a mixture of backroom bribes and procedural tricks. Instead of passing a transparent bill that would help rejuvenate our economy, thousands of small business owners are left wondering if this health care bill will be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
With the passage of this flawed health care bill we witnessed free market ideals substituted for more government bureaucracy. The federal government will be hiring approximately 16,000 new IRS agents just to enforce the new tax element of this legislation. In addition, this bill will make major cuts to Medicaid and Medicare and ask private citizens and doctors to pick up the tab. Ultimately, I believe this health care legislation is too expensive and is clearly unconstitutional. read more »
As usual, the Associated Press gets it all upside down and purposely wrong. When I was in broadcasting years ago, the AP was a mainstay in news reliability and journalistic integrity. The first source I would head for in a breaking news environment would be the AP wire machine. My, how times have changed.
Today, AP wrote that our ‘I wanna be just like Hugo Chavez’ President was said to be stepping lightly around the subject of the Patriot Movement, what the ever-lame statist press loves to call the ‘Tea Partiers’, with that condescending smarmy tone they love to use. Then they state that the Republican Party wants to co-opt our ‘passion and our votes’.
If they did ten minutes research with any source other than the Washington Post, they’d know that the Republican party is co-opting nothing. They are falling in line behind the conservative patriot movement as fast as they can. The ‘new’ Republican leadership, which we have seen emerging from the battle over health care, are well aware that this is not the haphazard gathering of disgruntled voters that the left is so wont to portray. It’s a huge groundswell which is growing and gaining ground daily. Any movement that can produce twenty to thirty thousand people at the Capitol, virtually on an overnight notice such as occurred over the weekend of the health care voting, is one which has considerable clout. read more »
It’s a cameo of the Clinton administration right down to the ever charming Janet Napolitano waging warfare on ‘armed Christian militia groups’. Democrats all over the country are suddenly ‘in fear for the lives of themselves and their families’. What crap! Every time anyone, anytime calls them on their stuff they fall back on racism, or fear of the supposed militant right in this country. Then with the connivance of the statist, left wing lap dog press they attempt to link the entire patriot movement to every fancied incident they can create.
If that Christian Militia in Michigan was indeed plotting some insane campaign of terror against local police departments as part of a campaign against the government, then they were as stupid as they were inept. No patriot or group of patriots is actively plotting against the US Government, and most particularly if they were, they sure as hell wouldn’t start with the local police or Sheriff’s deputies.
There are parts of this story that just aren’t meeting the smell test… like so much of what the left does, they aren’t very good story tellers. They are too accustomed to their lies being given a gold plated pass by their goofball base and the statist press which has been carrying their water for so long. read more »
ObamaCare supporters who claim that opposition to the recently passed health care legislation is motivated by hatred of empowered minority group members are right about one thing. Those who oppose the bill and want it repealed are in fact motivated by hate.
They hate a lot of things they’ve witnessed over the past year, none having anything to do with African Americans, Latinos, or women wielding power in Washington.
Among other things, they hate:
The health care bill:
• Its unconstitutional individual mandate and general abridgment of liberty
• Its ban on non-government-sanctioned health care plans, including catastrophic coverage that many young people prefer, and its usurious taxing of “Cadillac plans”
• Its boneheaded enforcement mechanism which, in addition to being miswritten, would simply lead people to pay a relatively piddly fine instead of buying health insurance until they needed it
• Its paying only six years of benefits while levying ten years of taxes and claiming to be a deficit reducer
• Its stubborn and complete absence of free market reforms, such as malpractice tort reform, removal of the ban on selling insurance across state lines, and health insurance tax credits for the self-employed read more »
What a pathetic joke for a news organization… CNN has plumbed the depths of falsification again by telling viewers throughout the day, Saturday, March 27th, that there were ‘dozens’ of people, maybe hundreds at the Searchlight, Nevada Tea Party rally. It can only be described as a pathetic attempt at misinformation. They must have the pizza guy doing news editorial programming, which shouldn’t really surprise anyone given their perpetual low market ratings… it’s embarrassing to get beat by MSNBC.
If you are in the business of news prevarication, you could at least be a bit creative about it. But then that would take talent and that appears to be something that there is a severe dearth of at CNN. That could be the reason that they hired RedState’s Erick Erickson… goodness knows their stable could use the help.
The latest figures I have on the rally held in Senator ‘Dingy’ Harry Reid’s backyard at Searchlight, Nevada, is that right around 20,000 people showed up to hear keynote speaker Sarah Palin. Palin, as usual, is taking massive amounts of abuse from the left. That’s to be expected and is a direct gauge of the fear they have for her. Obama can’t get more than a few thousand people to his bought-and-paid-for teleprompter extravaganzas. Sarah Palin gets more than that to a book signing. read more »
Lincoln is credited with saying that the philosophy of the classroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next. Likewise, totalitarian movements such as Nazism and Communism expended considerable resources on efforts designed to sway the youth of their respective countries into embracing ideologies inimical to the self interest of the student.
Viewing himself in the pantheon of historical figures by which entire eras are remembered, Barack Obama also realizes the necessity of claiming the hearts and minds of the young if he is to transcend the chasm between that of mere government administrator or even head of state to that of an adored icon an entire culture or way of life is built upon.
Though the administration distanced itself from the original lesson plan and disavowed any purpose for the President's broadcast address other than to tell students to stay in school, the fact that such a document was even formulated provides a glimpse into the worldviews of the influential at the highest levels of the bureaucracy and administration. Therefore, even if the misbegotten memorandum is scrubbed from the Internet and its existence denied to the same extent as the Star Wars Christmas special, it must still be scrutinized as part of the documentary history of the United States.
Despite however White House operatives might spin it now, the President and his handlers intended this speech to be more than a simple welcoming of the school year. Each section of the lesson plan revealed even more about the intent of the section that preceded it.
According to the section titled “Before The Speech”, teachers were instructed to have students read books about Barack Obama. For high schoolers, would the President’s operatives in the Department of Education endorse and applaud works of a contrarian perspective such as “Obamanation” by Jerome Corsi and “The Culture Of Corruption” by Michelle Malkin, or is the suggestion merely euphemism for laudatory tomes of a worshipful nature? read more »
A number of observations regarding slurs allegedly spewed by Tea Party activists on Capitol Hill protesting the vote on health care reform:
(1.) Since the rally was open to the public, how do we know if those enunciating racial epithets were members of actual Tea Party organizations.
(2.) How do we know that hose hurling such insults were not actually leftist infiltrators conniving to make Tea Party activists look bad. After all, numerous incidents of alleged racial bias have been proven to have been perpetrated by radical minority agitators.
(3.) Isn’t it worse to be an able bodied person living off the public dole than someone who says something in a fit of temper extremely ill mannered?
(4.) Regarding Barney Frank supposedly being called a “fag”. Isn’t he the one that has deliberately told the public what it is that excites his loins to the point that this is the first thing that comes to the public mind when he makes a public appearance?
(5.) If the establishmentarian media thinks it is wrong to call Barney Frank a “fag”, then on what grounds can they then refer to Tea Party activists as “Teabaggers”, which is actually a reference possibly even fouler than the “fag” categorization?
(6.) Unlike some of Obama's closest supporters such as Bill Ayers, the wildest Tea Party activists are still merely children tossing tantrums in terms of actual violence and destroyed property
First of all tonight, I would like everyone who reads this column to read Erick Erickson’s article for Friday, March 26, 2010 on RedState.com. I have long been an admirer of Erick’s work and this time he has taken the bit in his teeth. Erick has articulated exactly what a lot of us have been thinking.
We have a rogue government which shows every indication of continuing to abrogate the principles of freedom and liberty upon which this land was founded, and the head of that government is behaving like this country is his fiefdom and we serfs to his monarchical tyranny. There is a tipping point here. Whether we have reached that point yet or not is a difficult thing to gauge.
The founders took a lot of abuse before they rebelled. They, like we, saw it as an action to be taken only in extremis. Yet driven to what they saw as a position of intolerability, take it they did. These were not wide-eyed radicals, but mature, reasoned and educated men. Most stood to lose everything and understood that once begun there could be no turning back.
No one, least of all people like Erick or myself, would want to see open strife in this country as long as there was any recourse to redress by election or through the courts. Along with the rising anger in this country as more and more ‘details’ of the monstrous 3,000 page bill are revealed (Nancy Pelosi: “You have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”), is the increasingly voiced fear that Barack Hussein Obama and the Demarxist Congress would somehow manufacture a ‘national’ emergency and there would be no elections come November. read more »
Barack Hussein Obama’s latest perfidy, among many, is in threatening our South Korean allies about retaliation against North Korea, for what (now that the lies are clearing) looks like the torpedoing of a South Korean Naval vessel in South Korean waters by the North Koreans. Fifty eight out of a crew of one hundred and four were reported as having been rescued. There were no confirmed reports of missing and dead as of this writing.
Sources in Washington reported that Obama moved quickly to run interference for the North Koreans. The war with the North has never really ended for the South with the cessation of hostilities in 1953. The border between the two countries at the ‘demilitarized zone’ is heavily fortified and has seen many incidents of provocation and infiltration of agents from the north over the years. On May 27, 2009, North Korea once again declared that a state of war existed between the two countries.
Obama’s interference is developing into a disturbing pattern of using US influence to interfere in our allies internal defense policies, while pandering appeasement to ruthless dictatorships around the globe. Obama’s most recent shameful treatment of Israel’s Prime Minister should have been, and was, considered by Israel to be a mortal insult. Further, Obama ordered that a shipment of advanced J-DAM deep penetrating bunker-buster bombs be turned around at Diego Garcia. read more »
Barack Hussein Obama has set himself and his party clearly against the great majority of the American people. I’m trying to make up my mind if it’s supreme hubris, stupidity or just ineptitude that would lead Obama to say something sure to inflame an already raging populace. Given there is some very serious and growing resistance to his agenda, you’d think he’d tone down the rhetoric somewhat.
It seems that now that the left is ginning up as much anti-patriot sentiment as they think we will swallow, they feel safe in throwing down the gauntlet. They’ll get all the resistance they can handle and more come November.
A word to the new Conservative Republican leadership. Do not allow the DeMarxist agitprop machine get ahead of us on this issue of all the ‘hate’ messages supposedly put out against the Congressional Democrats, though someone put a bullet through a window at Eric Cantor’s campaign offices. We can safely assume that that one wasn’t one of ours. The left pulls this crap all the time. Time after time our leadership has ceded the ground to them. They have to be called on their stuff… each and every time.
They pulled it with the Clinton administration and their ghost war against ‘the militias’, and because no one had the courage to call them on it a runaway Justice Dept. under an alcoholic predatory lesbian, Janet Reno, resulted in Ruby Ridge and the murders of three innocent people. Let us not forget the out and out ‘war’ waged against helpless women and children at Waco, Texas in the Branch Davidian debacle, resulting in the deaths of eighty American citizens in order to get one man. read more »
While the nation seethes and counts the days until November, the Marxi-Socialists of the Democratic party and the statists of their stooley press are attempting the badly used-up tactic of manufacturing incidents calculated to bring shadows down on the Republicans, and most particularly the Conservative Patriot movement, or ‘Tea Party’ movement, as they so disparagingly term us.
Starting with the ’supposed’ incident of two black Representatives being spat upon and called racial epitaphs, it’s really difficult to understand how in this day, with almost every cell phone video-capable and with some thousands of people around, no one obtained a single picture of anything that allegedly transpired. It wouldn’t be the first time the left has tried to gin up sympathy by using the race card to play the race card.
Guess what guys? That one ain’t playing so well again either. Does anyone out there remember Tawana Brawley and that epitome of truth and probity Al (Race Bait) Sharpton?
It’s not just that such tactics are not beneath the Congressional Democrats and their Marxist radical allies, they are part and parcel of the playbook that statists use on a daily basis. We hear stories of threats made against Representatives’ lives and bricks thrown through windows. So many times in the past we’ve heard claims like this exploded in the light of truth, the instigators found to be either Democrat operatives or fringe nut-cakes from their own side, of which they have many. Like the one who trashed a Democrat campaign office during the last election. read more »
Vote for Repeal, Replace, Reform to Symblize Unity
How can anyone legitimately ask any Democrat who didn't vote for Cubacare if they are pro-Repeal, Reform when members of our own GOP remain uncommitted to completely repealing this socialist legislation?
Tonight, there's word that Senate leadership are trying to scuttle any vote on repeal or the signing of any Amendment because:
moderate Republican senators who voted against Obamacare in December do not want to vote against it again because it would just be “symbolic”. McConnell agrees and is not inclined to push Republicans...
The Obama deems it symbolic to sign in the Green Room.
Patrick Kennedy deemed it symbolic to present Obama with the first Universal Healthcare bill Ted Kennedy signed in 1970.
But the the GOP deems it symbolic to only speak in absolutes to the media.
What sort of battle over America's freedom can conservatives wage if the Executive Organizer and his cohorts continues to trademark words such as "historic" and "unprecedented" -- while conservatives only consider actions on the basis of their symbolism, and not act? read more »
First of all, let me congratulate our ‘cousins’ to the north in Cannuckville for their courage in attempting to silence that one-woman invasion by Anne Coulter. Apparently, the brave Canadian student body, looking for all the world like a medieval Santa Casa witch-burning, surrounded a building with rocks and sticks.
To say that the Canadian government has lost the principles of honesty and freedom of thought and expression in the interest of political correctness, and the interests of ‘certain’ protected minority groups, is an understatement. Huge kudos to Anne for sticking it to them in the way that only she can do and refusing to fall for their intimidation. By the way, I checked with my editor Dee and she informs me that although these columns are read all over the world, and in some of the most unlikely places, not one has ever been published in Canada to her knowledge. Wonder what that’s about? (grins).
The next assault against America by Obama is going to be over illegal immigration, despite the smoke screen of cap and trade (tax) and environmental issues. With his majority in the House, and very likely the Senate as well, in danger of becoming ex post facto in November, and the Conservative Patriot movement (what the left continues to dismiss as ‘tea parties’) growing in momentum and becoming a real force in American politics, Obama’s second term may be problematic. read more »
It ain’t over ’til it’s over, and it’s not over by a long shot. Yesterday we watched as the Constitution of the United States of America had holes shot through it. I didn’t like it one bit and I resent it all to hell and gone. When I swore my oath before God to protect and defend that wonderful document I took it very seriously, as I do to this day.
Watching the elected Representatives of this country, who also swore that oath before God, lie, cheat, break the rule of law and the covenant of the Constitution, in order to force a massive Marxi-Socialist agenda against an unwilling populace has me and this country boiling mad.
Where do we go from here? As has been mentioned, Republican leaders wasted no time filing intent to recall notices. Legal and parliamentary maneuvering has begun in earnest. It’s not at all clear that this health care bill will have the clear sailing being touted by the LSM (lame stream media) and their leftist masters. There are some major irregularities with the passage of this legislation – and I do mean the Constitutional challenge variety.
The next phase of the war against totalitarianism as evinced by Barack Hussein Obama will be fought in the Senate. The Constitution requires that the language of both bills be identical. It also requires that both bills be passed before they are sent to the President, whose signature makes them law. In this case the House has passed the Senate bill exactly as written, and will attempt to make changes through a second bill which they will attempt to pass through the ‘reconciliation’ process which only requires 51 votes in the Senate. It is this process that the Republicans will attempt to obstruct at every turn. read more »
