A "new" dawn in race relations

Rasmussen says that 1/2 of Americans believe were on the dawn of a new era of race relations...that it's all sweetness and light from here on out.

On the day Barack Obama begins his presidency, nearly half of Americans (48%) believe his inauguration signals the start of a new era of race relations in the United States.

Thirty-two percent (32%) disagree, while another 21% are undecided, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

African-Americans are much more convinced than white Americans that Obama's inauguration will change race relations. Three out of four blacks (75%) say this will be the case, compared to just 43% of whites. Over a third of whites (35%) do not believe this to be true, compared to just 19% of blacks.

And then you have this at the inauguration itself...from the guy chosen to give the closing prayer...by the guy who's "ushering in" this new era of hopenchange. (click here for video if not visible)

So it's still all on the white folks, huh?

How about a new dawn in race relations by, (gasp!), not talking about race. Especially at such a high profile event that's supposed to "unite" everyone for "change".

Looks like "change" will be more of the same...just with a bigger bull-horn.
