Appeals Court Upholds 'CIA Leak' Lawsuit Dismissal

In case you missed it, a U.S. appeals court on Tuesday afternoon upheld the dismissal of the lawsuit by former CIA analyst Valeria Plame against Dick Cheney and other members of the Bush Administration.

A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday dismissed former CIA analyst Valerie Plame's lawsuit against Vice President Dick Cheney and several former Bush administration officials for disclosing her identity to the public.

The Court of Appeals in Washington dealt another setback to the former spy, who has said her career was destroyed when officials blew her cover in 2003 to retaliate against her husband, Iraq war critic Joseph Wilson.

It's amazing that this decision has gone virtually unmentioned in all of the national media today. Certainly, there is a lot going on this week with the events in Georgia, the presidential campaign, the Olympics, etc.. Maybe, giving the benefit of the doubt, this is something that could apply as "Move along, folks... Nothing to see here!". After all, isn't that exactly what we've been saying all the while?

Regardless, it does raise the question - Just how dependant on the outcome of the ruling is this story's newsworthiness? In other words, if the ruling happened to go the other way, and Plame's lawsuit dismissal against Cheney, et al was reversed, how huge would this story have been, in the alternative?
