From the "news you probably didn't hear about" category:
Plame lawsuit against Cheney dismissed [2] - A federal judge in Washington yesterday dismissed a lawsuit against Vice President Dick Cheney and other high-ranking Bush administration officials, saying the court lacked jurisdiction to hear... [Washington Times [3]]
As soon as I heard about this [4] yesterday I made a mental note to check out the news on tv and the papers this morning to see what kind of play it got [5]. To say the least, it was pretty much buried. I think it was on page five here in my local paper...the NYT headline didn't even mention her name [6]---and the MSM morning talk shows didn't promo it in their lead-ins. Instead we got more "Iraq".
Now just imagine if the result had been that the judge had ruled that the case could go forward... The media would have been breathless. We'd have been treated to a page one story. The evening/morning news would be leading off [7] (w/that dramatic intro music playing in the background) with how Cheney and company are at risk...facing potential penalties...speculating he may be forced to resign, blah, blah, blah.
Is it any wonder most of us are cynical about the media?
And as for the publicity hungry Plame and her husband Wilson, will they please just go way.
