How many people out there think what's really been missing from the process of nominating federal judges...what's REALLY needed...is the input of the American Bar Association??
Well that's what the Bamster thinks. And he's brought them back into the loop, after having been kicked out of the loop by W years ago. And why were they put out of the process to begin with? Because what everyone in the know already knew became more and more obvious - that the organization is liberal, overly politicized and takes an official pro-abortion stance.
Which explains why The One wants them back in the loop [3].
And, of course, the folks over at the ABA are happy they've got a seat at the table again...
ABA President Thomas Wells Jr. confirmed the change today and praised the work of the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary.
“The Standing Committee makes a unique contribution to the process by conducting an extensive peer review of each potential nominee’s integrity, professional competence and judicial temperament,” he said.
“The Standing Committee does not consider a potential nominee’s ideological or political philosophy,” Wells claimed. “Its work is fully insulated from, and completely independent of, all other activities of the ABA, and is not influenced by ABA policies" ...
No, not at all.
The committee advanced Hamilton's name and, ironically, unanimously gave him a “well-qualified” rating for Obama to select him for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Yet, when President Clinton nominated him to the federal bench, a majority of the committee’s members at the time rated him “not qualified."
Nothing to see here. Move along.
