Obama's taxing logic
Obama admitted this week that higher taxes can kill jobs. Then he turned right around and proposed that we raise taxes on American companies that create jobs overseas [2]. To which the Wall Street Journal [3] points out that we'd do better to reduce the taxes on American companies that create jobs here in America. But of course that sort of logic makes liberal minds overheat as they try to reconcile it with their worldview.
What Nancy knew
After all of her protestations to the contrary, it turns out now that Nancy Pelosi did indeed know all about the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques a far back as 2002 [4]. These people are truly incredible. They jump up and down, call Bush officials criminals, claim they're torturing people and should be prosecuted...use it as a political issue in campaigns and then, after the elections are over, the truth comes out and we find out they knew all about it and didn't raise their voices to complain when they had the chance. Of course, we've seen this movie before on other issues. You know, like the Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac caused housing bubble...
How "free" is your state?
A recent study out of George Mason University takes a look a "Freedom in the 50 States [5]", measuring the states with indexes of personal and economic freedom, coupled with the size and cost of government, scope of regulations, etc.. It finds that generally the "most free" states also tend to be the most Republican in their politics, and the "least free" the most Democratic (as in NY at the bottom of the list). You can see a copy of the 2008 election map [6] here.
Pro-lifers as racist criminals?
Well, according to the Obama administrations' new "Domestic Extremism Lexicon [7]", yes. The document, released a few weeks ago as a dictionary of sorts for law enforcement to use regarding domestic extremist groups has a headline for "antiabortion extremism" with the following definition: "A movement of groups or individuals who are virulently antiabortion and advocate violence against providers of abortion-related services, their employees, and their facilities. Some cite various racist and anti-Semitic beliefs to justify their criminal activities." Of course, this comes right on the heels of the Department of Homeland Security's warnings [8] about the possible rise of "right wing extremists". But what's a little name calling among friends, right?
