Just in case you were wondering [3]:
Sen. Arlen Specter is telling Pennsylvania's Democratic leaders that he's "pleased and proud" to be back in the party where he started out in politics more than four decades ago.
Not that this would come as a shock to any Republicans...given what Specter himself said about how he usually votes...
The fifth-term senator ticked off a list of issues -- increases in the minimum wage, abortion rights, health care, civil rights -- on which he voted with the Democrats even though he was a Republican.
Which is what Republicans have complained about all along....pretty much since he switched to become a Republican out of political necessity way back when...
But then, it's never really been obout the issues, but always about Arlen. A point that's underlined by the fact that he switched back to the Dems because every poll showed PA Republicans weren't going to give him the senate nomination again.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
