* What a difference a President makes! (Not!)
From the latest "right track / wrong track" numbers [4]from Rasmussen:
"Just 31% of likely voters now believe the United States is heading in the right direction, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Down one point over the past week, it’s the lowest level found on the question since mid-February.
"Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say the country is moving down the wrong track, up a point from last week and the highest finding since the second week in February. This finding is back to the same level it held the week in January that Barack
And here's a telling number: most African-American voters (56%) still say the country is heading in the right direction...down seven points over the previous week's poll.
This is in addition to the results from the latest AP poll [5], showing essentially the same thing.
I'm sure all this has aboslutely nothing whatsoever to do with his spending binge and push for a health care bill he doesn't want anyone to take the time to read. Nah... Couldn't be.
* Support for Obamacare on the skids
Another Rasmussen poll shows support for the health care "reform" has gone down [6]over the past month. Only 44% of voters are at least somewhat in favor, while 53% are at least somewhat opposed. And that 44% support is down from 46% two weeks ago, and 50% a month ago.
In the meantime, opposition has gone from 45% a month ago, to 49% two weeks ago, to 53% today.
And the strongest opinions in the debate are among those who oppose Obama's proposed reforms, (with 24% strongly in favor and 37% strongly opposed).
The problem? Despite those efforts to "hurry up", people are actually finding out what's in the bills.
Things like the fact that on page 16 of one of the bills [7], it specifically states that no one can buy or sell individual insurance plans after the January 1st after the bill becomes law.
Which means that if you're "happy with your current plan" (as Obama puts it), you'd dern well better keep it...becuase you won't be able to go out and buy a new one on your own.
* Coerced to perform abortions? Yep. Obamacare here we come!
Via heritage [8]...
"The Alliance Defense Fund announced today [9] that a lawsuit [10] had been filed in federal court on behalf of a Catholic nurse who says her employer, Mount Sinai Hospital, forced her to assist in performing a late-term abortion in spite of her strongly held religious beliefs against abortion.
"The suit alleges the nurse had repeatedly made her faith-based objections to assisting abortions clearly known to hospital administrators from the time she was hired, even signing a written statement stating her objection. It also states the hospital had a clear written policy preventing its employees from being required to participate in abortions. Nevertheless, the lawsuit alleges the hospital insisted that the nurse participate in the procedure just minutes before the scheduled “22-week age of gestation abortion,” and that staff shouted at her and threatened her with disciplinary action if she didn’t comply."
It gets better. For years there have been provisions in federal law to protect those who work at hospitals, etc. that receive federal funds from forcing anyone to particpate in abortions if it violates there conscious. And those regulations were most recently better enforced by the "conscious clause" protections [11]issued by the Bush administration...which Barack Obama's administration is now throwing out the window [12].
In other words, this story should give a little bit of insight into what life will be like for medical workers under Obamacare.
