Dear Friends:
Last night, freedom-loving Americans scored another important victory in our ongoing campaign to take back our country. Conservative Dr. Rand Paul won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Kentucky by more than 20 points.
The Washington establishment threw everything they had at Rand yet he prevailed. The Beltway crowd recruited, endorsed, and funded Rand's opponent, but it didn't work. Rand's message of less spending and less debt overcame all of the attacks and smears against him.
In Rand's victory speech last night he said, "I have a message from the tea party: We've come to take our government back."
This victory is further evidence that an American awakening is taking place across the country as people embrace the principles of freedom that are the backbone of our country.
It shows that Americans want strong leaders who will stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are bankrupting our country. And it shows that Americans want their representatives in Washington to focus on true national priorities, not wasteful earmarks.
I want thank each of you who have supported Rand Paul's campaign. If he's elected in November, he will add his voice to the growing number of new Republicans who will fight for our future.
But this race is not over and the Democrats are going to do everything they can to defeat our candidate. Let's redouble our efforts and make sure Rand wins.
Support the Conservative Comeback [2]
There was another important primary last night. Conservative Pat Toomey won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.
Toomey started this race by challenging incumbent Senator Arlen Specter back when Specter was a Republican. Senator Specter realized he could not win the Republican primary so he switched parties and fully embraced President Obama's radical agenda. This proved to be a major mistake. Last night, Specter lost the Democratic nomination and will finally be forced to retire after spending thirty years in the Senate.
Now Toomey will face Democrat U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, one of the most liberal members of the entire Congress. Let's make sure Toomey defeats him.
Support the Conservative Comeback [2]
Thanks to your support, we are making significant progress in our campaign to take back our country. Despite the best efforts of the Washington establishment, our conservative candidates are exceeding all expectations.
They said Pat Toomey was too conservative to win in Pennsylvania, but now he's leading in the polls.
They said Marco Rubio could never defeat Governor Crist in Florida, but now Crist has left the party and Marco is leading in the polls.
And they said Rand Paul would never win the Kentucky primary, but now he's done it and is well-positioned to take the seat in November.
Let's keep this momentum going and help Chuck DeVore, Ken Buck, and Mike Lee overcome their Washington-backed opponents too.
Our country is too great and our freedoms are too sacred to sit on the sidelines and miss this opportunity to fight back.
Thank you for your continued support. It's making a difference.
Sincerely,
Jim DeMint
