Rush Limbaugh was listing his theories on why Benghazi-gate happened. He offered reasons such as the cover-up for lack of security at the consulate, that the deaths gave lie to the Obama narrative that Al-Qaeda has been irreparably damaged or he also opined it was just a cover up of Obama’s lack of interest. It could easily be a far more sinister reason.
The Fast and Furious program, now a scandal, was designed to intentionally sell U.S. guns to Mexican drug gangs. Those guns, they knew, would ultimately be used to kill people in Mexico and the United States. With proof of U.S. guns, sold by American gun shops to drug cartels, the Obama administration would have the evidence they needed to start controlling gun sales in border-states. Obama said as much in a 2009 speech in Mexico. But, guns are easily transportable, so the ring of gun restrictions would ultimately have spread across the U.S. If it had not been for some untimely murders and a few, now harassed whistleblowers, it could have succeeded.
Instead of disinterest, could the White House have seen this “unfortunate bump in the road” in Libya, as an opportunity? Former Obama advisor Rahm Emanuel once said “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” I’m not suggesting the Obama administration set this up. Logistically that would have been impossible, but following the Saul Alinsky principle of letting no crisis go un-utilized, could the anti-Christian Obama White House have seen the death of our ambassador as yet another way to suppress Christian free speech?
Decades ago, when there was still truly free speech in the United States, there were limits. If you knew a military secret, you still didn’t get to tell Soviet agents or even the media about it. There was even free speech during World War II, but there were also many posters saying “Loose Lips – Sink Ships” and variations of that theme. Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Homes wrote in a 1919 opinion: “The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic.” Just “googling” that phrase turns up leftwing blogs saying that “hate speech” is not protected. As they consider all conservative speech “hate speech,” they are talking about censoring us.
Instead Benghazi, I would like to propose, appeared to the Obama White House as the perfect opportunity to use “national security” to surpass free speech, very much similar to the Fast and Furious plot to restrict 2nd amendment rights. The alleged anti-Muslim You Tube video or just a trailer to the yet to be made, I’m not sure which it was, became to them the perfect opportunity. Let no crisis be wasted! Use your freedom of speech to criticize Islam or any other non-Christian religion in a YouTube video or a speech and you could get Americans killed overseas (especially if their President won’t protect them). The next step is that criticizing any group, except Christianity of course, could incite violence domestically and bring down the wrath of the US government on you for jeopardizing “national security.” The creator of the “alleged” anti-Islam You Tube video is still in jail on trumped up charges. So despite knowing the truth, the Obama Administration and the liberal propaganda media continued to blame the video for the next ten days, until leaks derailed their plans.
Otherwise, why would Obama not use this incident to bolster his campaign? He could have cancelled fund raisers, called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council; given a nationally televised George W. Bush-like speech saying he’ll bring the killers to “justice”. He could have even cut back to playing only 9 holes of golf instead of 18 for a few days. Obama would have jumped 5 points in the polls overnight. Romney would never have been able to catch up.
Instead Obama and his people saw this opportunity to impose restrictions on Christian free speech in the name of national security and tried to seize it. Thank God it failed. Unfortunately, Ambassador Stevens and three other American heroes had to die.
Never underestimate the diabolical nature of the left and never attribute to incompetence what has been done intentionally. Do so at your own peril.
