John Edwards looks to "butch up" with the organized labor crowd [3] by hiring from the anti-Wal-Mart activists...
Political websites were abuzz Thursday with speculation that Democrat John Edwards plans to add to his 2008 presidential campaign team two activists who run a union-backed drive against the retail giant, Wal-Mart.
Paul Blank and Chris Kofinis of WakeUpWalMart.com reportedly will take positions as campaign operations manager and communications director, respectively.
The anti-Wal-Mart campaign, set up by the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union, has spearheaded union criticism of the company in an attempt to unionize its 1.3 million employees.
Ron Galloway, a filmmaker who produced a documentary on Wal-Mart and is a frequent commentator on the battle between the retailer and labor unions, called the hiring move "inspired."
No doubt he also hopes that this "good news" will help offset he rep as a pretty-boy among the dirty fingernails crowd. Especially in light of this week's comments by his jilted stylist [4], whom he called "that guy".
