The Casey Anthony murder trial is the most depressing case currently working its way through the American court system, not just for the shocking and horrifying actions alleged, but for the way in which it embodies the prevalent left-wing worldview of phony victimhood.

All evidence suggests that 22-year-old Florida mother Casey Anthony killed her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, so she could resume the hard-partying lifestyle she enjoyed before she accidentally got pregnant with and gave birth to Caylee.

According to prosecutors, Anthony coldly, methodically drugged her daughter with chloroform, covered her mouth with duct tape to asphyxiate her, stuffed her dead body in a plastic bag, stowed it in the trunk of her car, concocted an elaborate series of lies to tell authorities and family regarding Caylee’s absence, and later dumped her daughter’s body in a swamp.

Anthony’s attorneys’ brilliant defense against the mass of forensic evidence the prosecutors presented to support their case was that Caylee actually fell in the family’s above-ground swimming pool and drowned—a claim for which they offered not a drop of physical evidence.  The accident happened due to neglect from Anthony which, they argued, was justified because she had suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her father.

In fact, the claim of sexual abuse was betrayed by such a complete lack of evidence during the trial that the judge refused to even let the defense utter it again in their closing arguments.

Defense attorneys couldn’t explain why Anthony would cover up an accidental death rather than call 911, why Anthony’s father would help cover up the death of his beloved granddaughter, why Anthony’s car’s trunk had traces of chloroform in it, or why Caylee’s skull had rotting strips of duct tape over its mouth and nose.  read more »

For those of you who are fortunate enough to live in a state wherein sanity yet abides, count your blessings. The downward spiral of California predates this and several other recessionary periods. It goes all the way back to our present Governor Moonbeam’s father, the late Governor Edmund G.’Pat’ Brown… liberal Democrat, of course.

The state’s sob sisters managed to virtually empty the state’s mental hospitals, utilizing Assembly Bill 691. This bill was signed into effect by Governor Brown, though Governor Ronald Reagan was to take the rap for it. The bill’s original purpose was, as all liberally conceived schemes are, written and signed with all of the greatest of good intentions.

Initially, AB 691 was to remove the some 13,500 patients suffering from ‘mental retardation’ and place them in group home settings. Unfortunately, some people who probably would have best functioned in an institutional setting were also released. As time went on, many other patients suffering from various mental disorders were released as well. It proved impossible to control these folks in the communities and many can be found in homeless encampments… or on the streets.

The liberal march to the sixties and the communist-inspired revolutions in our colleges turned the society on its ear, as Vietnam played out to its tragic conclusion, with cowardly US politicians literally snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.  read more »

I was talking with a friend of mine today, a good guy, and a smart guy. But a guy who, nevertheless, has fallen for the liberal line that all of our fiscal problems could be solved if we just raised taxes on the rich.  In short, he has taken to the "Fat Cat" theory of macroeconomics.  If we can just get the rich; the millionaires, the billionaires, the oil company executive, etc... to pay their "fair share," we could balance the budget, pay down the debt, fund entitlements until Kingdom come, and maybe even help me grow back the hair I’ve lost!  The exchange with my friend made me wonder, how many other smart, good people are being sucked into the Left’s class demagoguery in these rough economic times?  How many people look at the unemployment numbers, see their neighbors scraping by on food stamps and assume that the best answer is simple income redistribution?      read more »

If there’s an 80% chance President Michele Bachmann would repeal ObamaCare, enact entitlement reform, and prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, I’m sold.

Whatever trivial misstatements she’s made in her political career, this three-term Minnesota Representative is the strongest nominee the GOP has seen so far this campaign season.

Fox News host Chris Wallace recently demonstrated his journalistic integrity and respect for women in politics by asking Bachmann, “Are you a flake?”

There’s more evidence that Barack Obama isn’t a capitalist than that Bachmann isn’t a serious candidate, though I don’t recall any journalist asking candidate Obama, “Are you a socialist?”  If this is how Fox treats Bachmann, one can only imagine how the mainstream media will treat her.

Fortunately, Bachmann appears quite capable of defending her record.

Unlike candidate Obama, Bachmann has a real work history, with actual responsibilities, including five years’ tenure as a tax attorney, and experience running two mental health clinics, a charter school, and a family farm.

Unlike Senator Obama, Bachmann productively used her time in Congress, taking leadership roles on allowing drilling in ANWR, repealing the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill, and replacing ObamaCare with free market reforms.

Bachmann has labeled herself a “constitutional conservative”—precisely the correct label to use in this bizarre era of pay czars, light bulb bans, and trillion-dollar deficits.  read more »

Many in the homosexual community sneer when anyone mentions a "gay agenda".  They claim that there is no such thing. There clearly is a gay agenda, even if its not easily discernable or even concisely articulated.. We see proponents of the lifestyle calling for things like equal rights (who can argue against that) and even marriage and adoption for gay couples. But a little digging into the gay rights movement will give you the bigger picture of what same sex marriage advocates are ultimately hoping to achieve. This is a movement that only begins with equal employment opportunities and protections but ultimately wants to reshape our institutions and our very society.

In 1972, the National Coalition of Gay Organizations drew up a “Gay Rights Platform” in Chicago. Among the notable goals of the platform was to seek to “repeal all legislative provisions that restrict the sex or number of persons entering into a marriage unit; and the extension of legal benefits to all persons who cohabit regardless of sex or numbers”. In other words, the right for homosexuals to marry is simply the first step in the eventual destruction of the institution of marriage. And this is not a position that has been dropped over the last three decades. The notion of opening up marriage to any number of people is still pointed to time and time again by gay rights advocates. If the gay movement gets their way anyone can marry any number of other people, regardless of gender and (we will soon see) of age and the taxpayers will be left to cover the cost to society of these unstable and harmful unions. Imagine, a “marriage” of 4,5,6 men and women, all suing one another for alimony, child custody and support, and everything else that can come from a nasty divorce. If the recent Gallup poll is to be believed, that the majority of Americans now support the right of same-sex couples to marry, one has to wonder why the change in public opinion. Another recent Gallup poll might shed some light on why the public might be more open to same-sex unions and why they are being misled. According to Gallup, Americans now believe that 25% of the population is gay or lesbian. This number is incredibly inflated!

The classic study on the subject was done by Alfred Kinsey in the 1960's. Kinsey proposed that 10% of men between the ages of 16 and 55 had been "more or less excusively homosexual" for at least three years. Gay activists jumped on this study to show, in their minds anyway, the existence of a sizeable gay community. But, Kinsey's study was never meant to count the number of homosexuals but to simply illustrate human sexual activity. But, the activists saw this as a great tool and the 10% figure stuck for decades.

But, even that percentage is now thought to be inflated. According to demographer Gary Gates, based on an extensive review of population based surveys, the number of self-identifying gays and lesbians is about 9 million people, or 3.8% of the population.

Why this disconnect between reality and perception?  Its the result of a massive propaganda campaign directed at the American public on two fronts: the media and the public school system.

The media has been attempting to normalize the gay lifestyle for decades. I can remember, as a very young child, an episode of Phil Donohue where his guests were two very normal looking gay men. They could have been pulled from General Casting by requesting "two all-American jock-types". They were there to dispel all the "lies" about gays. They are just like us, except in the bedroom! Also, the audience was comprised entirely of young children: teens, tweens and other impressionable sub-groups. That was nearly 30 years ago. In the meantime, we've had Will and Grace, Ellen, Glee, programs on MTV and VH1 dedicated to advancing the normalization of homosexuality and all aimed at the young. Sure, you're going to think that the world is gay if that is all you ever see when you turn on the television!

When the kids aren't sitting in front of the tv, they are being indoctrinated at school. Let's start at the top with President Obama's pick as the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, Kevin Jennings. Mr Jennings, who founded the Gay and Lesbian Independent School Teachers Education Network, wrote the forwad to a book entitled “Queering Elementary Education.” This book is a collection of essays by different authors who supported teaching young children about homosexuality. Mr. Jennings’ foreword explains why he thinks it is important to start educating children about homosexuality as early as activist-educators can get away with doing so.

The bottom line here is that we are seeing our society reshaped, degraded, by 3.8% of the population and their supporters. They are waging a war against over 90% of the public and they are winning by propaganda and misinformation.
