Stimulus poll results

...forecasts not good

This past week's poll asked our readers to predict the results of the recently passed stimulus bill and, if our collective powers of prognostication prove reliable, we're in for a whole lotta' continued economic hurt.

Here's how it went:

  • 2% predicted an economic recovery (All hail "The One"!)
  • 6% predict that the recession will get even deeper
  • 19% see the specter of Jimmy Carter era style inflation
  • Nobody thinks deflation alone will be a problem
  • And a whopping 73% believe we'll actually be plagued with a combination of two out of the last three choices.
Of course, we forgot to throw rising interest rates into the mix, which were also another hallmark of the Carter era.
Maybe "The One" is onto something when he says "it's going to get worse before it gets better".
Of course, considering the awful bill he just helped get passed, he should know.
