For most Americans, January is a month of new beginnings, looking forward to what secrets the New Year holds. Many are consumed with resolutions they won’t keep, and football championships. Then there are those of us that value the sanctity of human life, for which January holds a very different meaning. You see, January is National Sanctity of Life Month, and January 20th is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday for 2013.
Permit me, if you will, to share a few sobering, but necessary thoughts on this subject. Of particular significance, is the fact that we now mark the 40th anniversary of legalized abortion in the United States. Many Americans have been focused on the tragic school shootings in Newtown, Conn., and rightfully so. A gunman shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14 and slaughtered 20 first-graders and six educators. The gunman, who had also killed his mother that morning, committed suicide as police arrived. read more »
